“Thanks for the Memories & Looking Ahead in ‘07″
The 23-25 December Advent IV and Christmas liturgies were a joy to experience. No small thanks go to all those who gave so much of themselves to make this season one of joy and communion: the altar guild under the skillful direction of Kitty Clovis; the choir and their consummate director Toni Limbers; the readers and chalice bearers ably organized by Jane Wade; the pageant and other children’s experiences overseen by Bill Saviers and Mary Beth Paugh; and the ushers and greeters who attended to the needs of worshippers.
Too much cannot be said as well for the work and unceasing attention of Beth Ann Wilson as she prepared a number of bulletins as well as overseeing the distribution of food baskets and volunteers such as the ever present and helpful Gay Courtney. And to Tim Radar goes out thanks for the preparation of our “rooms” of worship. Our thanks and gratitude to all these named and unnamed who helped make this another memorable Christmas at Christ Church. Read the rest of this entry »

The vestry has accepted an invitation from our diocese to be one of three West Virginia and one of one hundred and fifty Episcopal churches nationwide to participate in a pilot project called the “Church Assessment Tool.” This tool is a questionnaire meant to help congregations get a “picture” of who and where they are right now.
It is especially meant for congregations in transition such as those beginning a search for new clergy leadership. The results will be very helpful to the vestry and search committee in developing a parish profile that goes to all potential candidates for our next rector. Read the rest of this entry »

The Parish’s Annual Meeting takes placed Sunday, 21 January, following a combined service at 9:30 a.m. (item noted on Calendar at right) The meeting will include:
- The election of five vestry members and two diocesan convention delegates
- Recognition of “retiring” vestry members
- Presentation of the 2007 budget
- Brief reports on the Church Assessment Tool
- Where we are in our “Holy Conversations” and goal development
Those eligible to vote (according to Canon 13, section 3) are all baptized members aged sixteen and over who, for the last six months, have been regular worshippers in the parish and regular contributors to its support (as determined by the treasurer). Read the rest of this entry »

A new year is a great time to renew our outreach activity. There is much we can do to live up to our motto, “Serving Christ and Community.”
